Some of my favorites are:

I have to admit that I have not read these three books, but the reviews are hilarious!

You know, I've tried to read LOTR twice and I still haven't succeeded. Overuse of adverbs, indeed. Dreadful stuff, especially the singing.
Saw that website awhile back. Love it : ). There ARE some dreadful books on that list, my top WORST three being:
1. "LOTR".
2. "On the Road."
3. "The Wide Sargasso Sea"? C'mon...that book's so dull, interesting only from a PC viewpoint. Very little literary merit.
4. "Sun Also Rises." Hemingway's boring. Really. They'll include a typically "manly" writer like him, while excluding Sayers. *scoffs*
Books that should've been included:
1. "The Fountainhead" or "Atlas Shrugged." Ok, Ayn Rand's a loony nutcase, but that doesn't mean you can leave her off the list!
2. "The Once and Future King," T.H. White.
3. "Gaudy Night" or "The Nine Tailors", Dorothy Sayers.
4. SOMETHING at least by Agatha Christie!
So many more, of course, and this is why I should NEVER read lists like this. *frowns*
